How to Become a Member of Parrish United Methodist Church

We believe that Christ call us to become his disciples. One way to live as a disciple of Christ is to become a member of Parrish United Methodist Church. You may do this in one of several ways...

By Profession of Faith and Baptism...

If you are not now a baptized Christian, or if you are a baptized Christian but not a member of another church, the Pastor will be happy to discuss your Baptism and church membership with you in your home or in the pastor's study at your convenience.

By Transfer from another United Methodist Church...

Simply mark on the Attendance Pad on Sunday morning the "Wish to Join" column. A member of the staff will contact you. There is no need for you to contact your former church for a transfer; Parrish UMC will handle the details for you. Or you may call the church office at 941-776-1539.

By Transfer from another Christian Denomination...

This process is very much like the one above. Since you are already baptized and confirmed, these steps will not be repeated. You will be asked to take the one vow taken by all members of the United Methodist Church:

"Will you be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts and your service?"

Other Membership Options…

The United Methodist Church also offers Affiliate and Associate membership for persons who wish to retain Full Membership in another church but want some form of membership at Parrish UMC.

New Member Class...

Anyone wishing to join Parrish United Methodist Church will be required to attend a New Member Class.
